Explanations for this object

Shôkadô Shôjô is, alongside Konoe Nobutada (1565-1614) and Hon’ami Kôetsu (1558-1637) the most famous calligrapher of the Edo-period. The paper decoration with horizontal stripes of gold and mica powder is reminiscent of clouds.
